Does Your Metabolism Slow With Age?
The human metabolism slows down as you age, and it happens much earlier than you think. The decline in the rate at which your body burns calories is inevitable. This inevitability doesn’t mean that you can’t do anything about it. You can.

Ha! I meant 4 months now of not drinking
Haha… 4 moths sounds good as well, an unusual form of measurement, but I can see how that would work. Don’t moths last about 30 days 🙂
The idea of metabolism slowing with age is something I’d like more information on. I walk an average of 6-7 miles per day, and around 40 flights of incline. Also yoga twice a week. But it seems that since quitting drinking, (4 moths now) I have more of a sweet tooth! I think my body is getting tired of the same ole walk! Or maybe I need a better combo of food intake. I’m not overweight but my energy level runs out. I’ve had a recent physical so all is good there. Any thoughts? I look forward to information on nutrition as my next goal.
I think that the sugar you get from alcohol causes more of a sweet tooth. I eat a lot of fruit which satisfies me without giving me a sugar crash… nice and smooth glucose release. You also need to change up your exercise routine every so often. You are right, your body does get used to it. With regards to food intake, you are much better off testing, gathering your results, and seeing what outcome you get. Then test some more. I’m going through a big phase of that now, trying to incorporate a lot more physical exercise into my routine.
I eat so well and work out everyday when I’m not drinking. Once I start drinking I will go weeks and not do anything other than go to work. The best anti-depressant is exercise! I have found a three mile trail near my house and yesterday I walked it twice and felt so great. I’m always so happy when I don’t drink and abuse myself. How is it that I can forget how good i feel and then screw it up and become depressed all over again?
You have that right. I have often felt so tired, then gone to exercise, and felt so full of energy afterwards. It’s a strange concept but true.
