Kevin,
What do you suggest I do when my husband (who has no issue with drinking, getting drunk or blacking out) still drinks in the evening at dinner? Our house has a small collection of fine wines and so many bottles of spirits-especially whiskey (his favorite) He told me he is happy that I am quitting as he said he likes me better when I am not drinking. However, dumping his wine collection would be an abomination on my end. Any suggestions?
You can only really deal with yourself. When I stopped, Esther still had her wine. I had to put up with it. Honestly, it makes you stronger. Alcohol is everywhere. Look now, it’s taken 7 years, but Es is on the same path 🙂
I believe the best way of ‘educating’ others is to show them by example. The improvements you make with yourself and your life will shout louder than any words you could say.
I don’t think I would have ended up HERE while still poisoning myself with ethanol. Have had many Day 8s before, but this one is different! I’m armed with coping skills, education, and support that had been missing during previous Day 8s (there were few Day 9s) This is when my resolve would start to weaken…. when rewarding myself with a drink would start sounding like a good idea…. Today, I can see a realistic pathway out of this Hell! Thank you ALL 💜
